PCB Assembler

Osborne Appointments are recruiting on behalf of our client based in Stevenage, an electronics manufacturer who are looking to recruit 2 experienced PCB assemblers to join their team on a temporary to permanent basis .

The hours for this role are Monday to Thursday, 7.30am till 4.00pm and till 12 noon on a Friday

Main duties & experience required:

– Working in the Production Department, you will be assembling PCBs and you will need to be proficient in the following, as you will be asked to carry out a trade test as part of your interview

– Work from assembly drawings and build packs

– Solder conventional components to IPC-A-610, class 2 and 3

– Pre-form, insert and crop component leads using hand tools such as cutters, pliers etc

– Hand place surface mount components using SMT soldering and rework to IPC class 3

– Undertake SMT wet board assembly

– Knowledge of SMT component recognition and SMT number codes

– Understand component identification codes such as resistors, capacitors and ICs

– Understand the general requirements for PCB assembly and static control

– Operate various machinery used in the assembly process, eg flow solder machine, cleaning tank, drill etc

– Marking / labeling

– Complete production documentation

Purpose of the Senior Software Engineer:

Support the AWD software teams to develop and test software packages through all phases of the implementation lifecycle (design, programming, unit testing, integration and final verification)

Some of the main duties the Senior Software Engineer will include:

* Undertake all allocated software development activities (design, programming, unit testing, integration & verification).
* Support the software team lead in validating estimates for own tasks.
* Deliver allocated tasks to timescale/budget and in accordance with the company’s processes and procedures.
* Communicate well within the team and with other disciplines (systems, analysts, tests).

What you need to be the successful Senior Software Engineer:

* Educated to Degree level or equivalent in software, computer science or software related discipline.
* 3 or more years of software development experience in OO design and code generation (Java and C++) in a commercial environment (ideally defence).
* Clear understanding and experience of multi-threaded software design in a real-time context.
* Experience of various toolsets for Linux (Eclipse/Netbeans) and Windows (Visual Studio).
* Experience of formal OO design language (preferably UML with EA).
* Self-starter and able to learn on the fly.
* The successful candidate must be capable of achieving security (SC) clearance as a minimum.

AV Installations Engineer

Our client is looking for an AV Installations Engineer with 2-3 years’ experience to join their team and carry out the installation of high-end audio visual and home automation systems. You should be enthusiastic and have good self-motivation, as this is a predominantly field based role and you will be expected to represent the company, trouble shoot and help assist others members of the team when required. The company specialises in luxury residential, high-end corporate and Superyachts; so you need to be well presented, adaptable and highly knowledgeable.

What you will be doing:

* On site installation of AV equipment, 1st and 2nd fix AV installations
* Working independently and as part of a small team, under the instruction of Project Managers
* Working with Project Management to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget and to the satisfaction of the clients
* Site surveys / audits and H&S checks
* Assisting Project Management with managing, monitoring and controlling on site issues with reference to project budgets
* Ensuring the correct and safe installation of the equipment required and be aware of the financial impacts of on-site changes.
* Ensureing changes are documented and communicated daily to the Project Manager for resolution.

What you will need:

* Good practical skills and an understanding of construction techniques in a residential, commercial and marine environment to include working with power tools and SDS
* A service attitude that exceeds expectation
* Good understanding of 1st and 2nd fix AV installations
* Excellent soldering, crimp and terminating skills
* Ability to work from schematics, terminating sheets, site plans and projector drawings
* Experience and understanding of control systems, AMX/Crestron
* Experience and understanding of Video Conferencing systems
* Configuration and commissioning experience of basic networking equipment, including routers, switches and access points
* Experience of CCTV, gate and door access systems
* Aerial & Satellite installations and distribution
* Ability to build and connect AV racks in a neat, efficient and professional manner

Desirable but not essential:

* CEDIA EST Certified
* Full UK driving licence
* CSCS Health and Safety
* Basic control system programming skills (changing of IR drivers, RS232 drivers, graphical changes)
* Experience of AV Installations in the Marine / Superyacht Industry

Principal Firmware Embedded Software Engineer

The opportunity sits within a team working on Firmware Development for Embedded SOCs.

The Job

Our client is seeking an experienced and skilled electronics engineer who will take responsibility for repairing a wide variety of items down to component level, including printed circuit boards, power supplies, CRT and TFT screens as well as RF and communications equipment.

The Company

Provide cost effective repair of many types of electronic devices and have many years experience in repairing devices to component level including many technology products manufactured from the early 1970’s right up until today.

The range of products that the company repair is wide and includes:
Printed Circuit Boards
Power Supplies
CRT and TFT screens
Security products including CCTV cameras / pan & tilt devices / VCRS & DVRS
Items come in for repair from a wide variety of applications including aerospace, agriculture, defence, mass transportation, robotics and security.

The company also offer repair on one off devices where technical information is no longer available and reverse engineering is required or, volume repair for end users or manufacturers.

Must have the ability to read a circuit diagram and solder correctly as well as the ability to derive a circuit from an item which you may have to repair and test without any documentation
