Nexus people are currently recruiting for HGV drivers in the CM19 area of Harlow. We are looking for someone who can be flexible with their start and finish times, and who has experience driving an HGV Class 2 vehicle.

Working for one of the UK’s leading DIY & Home Improvement companies, you will be driving a Class 2 vehicle and the role will involve the usual vehicle checks and paper work as well as driving a Class 2 vehicle. There will be some manual handling involved and we are looking for HGV drivers with a variety of experience who can slot straight in to this amazing opportunity.

There are a variety of different shift times available, however we are particularly interested in people who can commit to 6am start times.

Now for the legal bits.

We appreciate that it has taken a lot of hard work for you to get your Class 2 licence, and that driving an HGV isn`t easy. To make sure you are eligible to drive one of our HGV`s, there are some important criteria you must meet first.

You should hold a full UK Class 2 HGV Licence
You need to have a minimum of 2 years` experience in driving a Class 2 HGV commercially
We need you to have driven commercially for at least 90 days in the last 180, and these must be tachograph recorded
Whilst we will accept up to 6 points on your driving licence, there must be no DD, TT, DR, CD, IN endorsements
You must have a Digi Tachograph Card and have a good understanding of the Working Time Regulations
You will need your DCPC Card

Reporting to the Workshop Manager, the main job function will be to undertake maintenance and repair activities on commercial vehicles/trailers of all types, to diagnose faults, carry out tests on vehicles and effect permanent and complete repairs.

My client, a well established and very successful Heavy Commercial Fleet Maintenance company with depots across London is actively seeking to employ a HGV Technician / Lead Hand to work within their state of the art facility in the Coventry area.

The HGV Technician / Lead Hand will be required to undertake general servicing and maintenance, correction of running defects, six weekly inspections, MOT preparation and presentation etc.

With this role being more senior than the average HGV Technician role there will be a requirement to spend a third of your working time in a non productive capacity, making sure all required paperwork is fully complete for each vehicle worked on, updating customers on the status of their vehicles, handing the shift over to the day shift senior engineers / supervisors to make sure that any problems from the previous shift are highlighted.

The successful HGV Technician / Lead Hand must have full industry recognised qualifications (City & Guilds or NVQ Level Two).

The successful HGV Technician / Lead Hand can expect to earn a basic salary of £31,636 plus quarterly bonuses and overtime

To proactively manage the development and performance of all team members, ensuring that all mandatory HSE requirements are fulfilled and all team members are trained and developed to maximise performance, taking appropriate action where standards are not met.
To ensure the smooth, safe and uninterrupted flow of sale vehicles through all auctions in lot number. Considering pre-sale, sale and post-sale logistics of the site.
To make sure that the yard is presentable so that it meets HSE requirements and gives a good impression to customers.

Candidates must be able to show previous experience of working within HSE legislation and within SLA and KPI requirements. You must have a proven track record of managing small to medium teams and have excellent IT skills with such programs as Word and Excel.

You will have strong people management skills as well as the ability to communicate effectively at all levels whilst always delivering excellent customer service.
