This position would suit a Quantity Surveyor looking to join an organisation with an international outlook, an enviable list of clients and projects, and which supports continuous professional development. Given the volume of work they would also like to hear from experienced Assistant and Graduate Quantity Surveyors looking to make the next step in their career.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrable knowledge of NEC contracts, with both pre and post contract experience beneficial. In addition, it is preferable that prospective applicants have experience of working on infrastructure developments.

Responsibilities of the role include,
Prepare activity schedules
Prepare Bills of Quantities
Evaluate contractor applications
Obtain payment certificates
Maintaining main contractors compliance through regular reviews
Undertake full tender analysis
Provide advice on dispute resolution, making recommendations to stakeholders
Liaise with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure project continuity and financial success whilst remaining compliant

The Company

First People Solutions are currently recruiting for a consulting engineering company based in Edinburgh. The company have been operating for many years in Edinburgh but have recently grown and hope to continue this.

They have several offices across the UK and specialise in civil and structural engineering with many of their clients being in the residential, commercial and education sector.

Due to the increase in workload, and not wanting to overstretch their current staff, they have decided they require a Civil Infrastructure Technician for their Edinburgh office.

The Job

In this position you will be working alongside a team who are responsible for delivering infrastructure design for various projects.

You will carry out detailed design for roads, drainage (including SUDS) and site levelling.

The ideal candidate will be someone who is carrying out a similar position in a consulting engineering environment.

A knowledge of AutoCAD is essential with WINDES, PDS and/or Civil 3D being very advantageous.

Senior Civil Infrastructure Engineer- Contract- Salford Quays

Senior Civil Infrastructure Engineer- Contract- Salford Quays.

Our client is looking to recruit an experienced Civil Engineer to work on the detailed design of civils infrastructure (below ground foul and surface water drainage, external works and hardstandings, coordination of below ground utilities, surface levels etc) associated with new buildings for large projects in the defence and manufacturing, life sciences or aviation sectors. The successful candidate will have extensive experience of Microdrainage and AutoCAD. The candidate may have experience of earthworks and levels modelling software such as civils 3D or equivalent. A thorough understanding of earthworks design, drainage design, pavement design, external works and 3D underground services co-ordination is required. The candidate is required to be a good communicator, who can work as part of a successful internal team (partly across two offices), respond to technical queries for other disciplines or from the contractor site. The candidate should ideally be a good problem solver.

Main Responsibilities:

Produce comprehensive civil and stuctural design packages for all aspects of civil engineering design.

Undertake all aspects of infrastructure design work on projects up to circa ~£200 million across the following sectors: Aviation, Life Sciences and Manufacturing and Power.

Contribute to the development and mentoring of junior engineers

Be highly proficient in AutoCAD and Microdrainage.

Skills and Experience:

Carry out technical design reviews/critiques of projects in process.

Assist in the mentoring and development of more junior engineers.

Conversant with current codes, standards, industry best practice and responsibilities under CDM and health and safety regulations.

Proven ability to work within a fully intergrated, multi-discipline design team.
